KKR (IPL) – The Actual Knights

Indian Premier League – A spectacle to watch, the biggest arena for cricketing superstars houses the knights of cricket, a team which is an inclusion in the Knight Club and Franchise, from the City Of Joy – Kolkata Knight Riders.

Kolkata Knight Riders is an IPL franchise which has existed since the conception of the league (i.e. since 2008) and have proved themselves victorious twice. But this is a new year and a new season and the team is in a new form.

CAPTAIN AND VICE CAPTAIN AND THE GG TOUCH.

In the season of 2018, KKR let go of Gautam Gambhir who played for his home team in his final IPL Season before retirement. Gautam Gambhir was literally the backbone of KKR till the time he played for the franchise; he made KKR what it is today and proved that KKR is the team that houses the actual knights of cricket. KKR won 2 IPL titles under his captainship and was able to reach the golden point.

The GG touch was an essential part of the KKR history which can never be forgotten as he literally built up the Knight Riders in IPL. But after KKR let go of GG, there was the big issue of captaincy troubling the KKR franchise. There were speculations that Robin Uthappa would be the captain but then the franchise took the best decision at that time, it was the exact kind of backbone replacement that they needed for the transplant. The big hitter, the mind reader, the anchor of the team – DINESH KARTHIK. The savior of the Indian Cricket Team in the Nidahas Trophy came to KKR’s rescue. They made Robin Uthappa the Vice – Captain and this duo is the perfect one to bring together the whole team and even hit hard and build a huge wall for the ball behind the wicket with both of them being Wicket Keeper – Batsman. Dinesh Karthik does not get a lot of chances as he comes way down, he should come a bit earlier in the batting line – up.

ALL – ROUNDERS.

All Rounders are an integral part of any team especially a team like KKR which has  more power in their Bowling and are less dependent on only selective bowlers. All Rounders also come to KKRs rescue when the team misses their key bowlers and batsmen as KKR has the perfect combination of All Rounders. This year KKR retained Andre Russel who is an exceptional player. Andre is a bowler who can bowl different kinds of balls as per the situation. Andre’s hard hitting skills do come to KKRs rescue. He was able to prove his efficiency in the CPL and while playing for his international team. Next, KKR retained Sunil Narine, the bowler who is a spectacle to watch. KKR also bought the emerging star Anrich Nortje who is a bowler who the team can trust. He even has experience against Indian Players which may be helpful for him. He is sure to be one of the new stars of the team this year. The others are Shrikanth Munde and the best buy by KKR is Carlos Brathwaite who will change the whole scenario for KKR as he bowls balls which are hard to read and play. He is going to be the best Foreign KKR Bowler.

BOWLERS AND BATSMEN.

Bowling has always been KKR’s strongest forte as KKR spend the most on bowlers to keep a low target. Batting has been a weak section for KKR as KKR has always been a little dependent on the opening line up and the middle order batting line up is very weak as KKR has very less players who can play well under pressure. But this year, KKR has tried to improve their batting line – up with new batsmen like Nikhil Naik and Joe Denly and the all-rounders. Nikhil also provides support as a Wicket – Keeper as he can come in handy when DK and Uthappa are unavailable or in matches where the fielding positions can be shuffled and it can be tried to find a better formations. KKR has spent a lot at the IPL Auctions this year to improve their bowling line up and keep more options. They bought sensation Brathwaite and also spent a huge amount of money on Kiwi bowler Lockie Ferguson who is going to be interesting to watch out for. KKR has a very weak Batting line up because there are selective Batsmen who can face the fierce challenges which may prove dangerous for KKR. Except that KKR has got world class bowlers like Kuldeep and Shivam and Batsmen like Shubhman and Chris Lynn.

The possible and Master Class playing XI + 1 reserved:-

Batsman Chris Lynn
Batsman Robin Uthappa
Batsman Shubhman Gill
Batsman/Wicket – Keeper Dinesh Karthik
All Rounder Carlos Brathwaite
All Rounder Sunil Narine
All Rounder Anrich Nortje
All Rounder Andre Russel
Bowler Piyush Chawla

Best of luck to KKR.
