IPL WEEK – 1 – Q/ANSWERS

In this post, I will be answering some important questions and doubts regarding the IPL season of 2019 (the post is after the first weekend).

Will this season of the IPL prove better for the RCB side?

Vivo IPL 2019 does not seem to be much different for RCB as their core team has not had any significant changes, which is an area of major concern for the RCB side. As seen in the first match against CSK, RCB turned out to face a very bitter defeat but yes, that single match can’t decide RCB’s potential but if we take a look at their team, we find a hole in the team regarding their batting. RCB’s batting order has some very powerful members but it turns out that the first 3-4 batsmen are only ones who can hit big shots and if Virat Kohli does not continue his good form this year, then it will leave a big hole in RCB’s batting order. However, the bowling side is slightly stronger but does not have enough experience to face players from the CSK or any other such side.

Does CSK present the perfect team as a whole?

Well partly yes, because there can’t be any ‘perfect’ team but yes CSK present a very well managed side with an extremely good leader. CSK has been able to rope in the most experienced players and coaches which gives an edge to the team but it also results in lack of young talent, which is neither good for the team as they don’t get that exposure and nor for the young players for whom IPL is a gift. CSK has got a very good captain who knows cricket tactics like a normal person knows the alphabets of his language. The team also seems to tie up well together, which will result in an interesting show.

How will the loss of the 3 pacers affect KKR?

The loss of the 3 pacers will surely have a significant effect on KKR but KKR has already managed to get replacements for Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti but have not yet got one for Anrich Nortje, the two replacements are not as effective as Shivam and Kamlesh as they had international experience and also were way better players. This will especially affect KKR in away matches were the pitch is less favourable for spin or even worse if it is a bowling pitch but the spin does not work out properly in that match.

Is DC finally back?

Yes, they are and with a very good bowling and batting line – up. The team has their strength in both bowling and batting which is a very big advantage for DC. Delhi has got a very strong batting and bowling line up as they have been able to rope in bowlers like Rabada and Trent Boult, who also provides great fielding support, and batsmen like Pant and other international stars. They are even lead by a great captain – Shreyas Iyer- and are very supportive and active.

Is DC too dependent on Rishabh Pant?

No, as no team (especially such a good team) can be dependent on a single player but yes Rishabh Pant is a very strong pillar for his team and has also showed off his skills in his first Vivo IPL 2019 match against MI.
