A RIVALRY TO WATCH OUT FOR – Warner vs Rashid is going to be very interesting to watch.
They both played for the same franchise in IPL 2019 and complemented each other as Warner blitzkrieg was supported by Rashid’s excellent bowling skills. Warner will have an edge over Rashid as he will be on the batting side when they meet because Warner is an opening batsman. It may not be a very visible rivalry because Warner will look to come in first and hit hard before Rashid comes later in the game.
Rashid should not bowl in the first 6 – 7 overs as till then the ball and the pitch will not be set for him and plus tactics if we see, then, if he comes later on, Afghanistan will be able to bring that sudden attack on the batsmen. Till then, the powerplay bowlers should be tried.
Warner should look to come in first and hit as many runs as possible in the first 5 – 6 overs itself because then it will be time to start playing slowly after increasing the pressure on the Afghanistan side. Warner should look to play safe after that and be on the crease till halfway the innings is over.
Warner will have to decode the slower balls of Rashid as it will be very essential that Warner tries to attack Rashid. Rashid’s batting skills will be only put on test if Australian bowlers literally tear apart Afghanistan’s batting line up.
