Scuderia Ferrari – The team that seemed to be the most promising before the season started but now they seem to be a team which has lost control over its own game. Ferrari were the fastest during the pre – season testing but from the time they entered even the first Grand Prix of the year, they have not been able to continue with that pace.
Ferrari will have a lot to mend before entering the Monaco GP. You cannot be a part of Monaco GP without having enough pace. This was also admitted by Ferrari. Ferrari faced great problems regarding the tire temperatures which is the most essential part in F1 in a way that it is something which, if managed properly, can bring good luck as it is the key to Grip which is the key to driving through to victory.
Max Verstappen from Red Bull does not have a car as equally good as that of Ferrari but he still impresses with his driving skills as he is the driver who if has a great qualifying in Monaco, can come through the finish line first because he is not facing much problems and is also having good management with regard to which set of tyres to choose.
If we concern the Spanish GP , then in that race, we see that Leclerc’s car’s tyres were changed to Hard from Soft during his first pit stop during the Main Race, which may have been for reasons such as avoiding further pit stops but one concern is that Ferrari in all the races have selected different tyre strategies also as to give advantage to one racer and use the other as a defender. So basically, Ferrari seems to be playing football.
Ferrari usually deals out one driver who shows more speed at the start of the race as the one who will attack the driver in front and the other one usually becomes the one defending the two from an invasion by other cars.
Ferrari pit stops do not seem to be of a great deal as compared to other teams as Ferrari never has a huge gap between their racer and the other teams’ racers when they call in for their driver/racer to pit. During that time, that specific Ferrari driver is overtaken by other drivers and instead of that driver finding speed and calling for Fourth or Podium position, he is left fighting through the crowd of couple of other drivers.
During the Spanish GP, Leclerc was called in for his second pit – stop right after the Safety Car came on the tracks which was also the time when several other cars pitted to take advantage of not losing any significant place and also get some new tires to fight through the last part of the race. After the safety car was pulled off, the cars went full throttle but still Leclerc could not get the pace which he needed plus Vettel defended his position in fourth place as Leclerc finished fifth. The best race of Leclerc till date has got to be the one in Bahrain.
It has got to be tough for Leclerc to out do Vettel as facing Vettel is like facing a mountain of experience, so in this fight Leclerc has also got to be careful as if he in the course of bettering his position does not prove efficient for the team that will be not good but even Ferrari will have to stop playing safe now and play wilder as 5 races have gone and Mercedes are looking great plus even Red Bull will be looking for that even a tiny bit of error from Ferrari which may do it for Gasly who usually starts behind both the Ferraris.
Ferrari have got a lot of ground to cover and they need to do it quick.
