New Zealand played against Sri Lanka in the 3rd match of the ICC CWC19. The partnership of Martin Guptill and Colin Munro, each scoring a half century, brough in swiftly but steadily a win in the bag for New Zealand. Only 13 players took to the crease to bat that day, but only 2 of them were from the New Zealand side.
The opening partnership of Guptill and Munro scored a total of 137 runs of just 16.1 overs at 8.5 runs per over.
Both the batsmen played attacking from early on and tried to pick up every ball, especially they used Malinga’s ball a lot to add runs as his balls were just perfect for them to hit it for boundaries. Lakmal provided some challenge but still a strong partnership enabled the batsmen to steadily attack him as well.
