All Drivers completed the Qualifying Sessions trying to give their best and some qualified with pole position whereas some surprisingly failed to qualify at the expected or wanted grid positions. The track performed in starkly different manners during the 3 Qualifying sessions under the main 1 hour qualifying session.
Some cars outdid the expectations whereas some continued to face dynamical issues and had to succumb to those issues and suffice themselves with what their cars allowed them.
MERCEDES HAVE NO CHALLENGERS
Mercedes dont have any challengers this year for either of the two championships as their cars are far ahead and way more reliable than any of the other 18 cars on the grid. Even the Pink Mercedes (officially known as Racing Point BWT Mercedes) is very fast and beats the midfield competition but at the end of the day, know one handles a Mercedes type car better than Mercedes themselves.
They are also having luck on their side with the weather conditions favouring with no such very hot weather affecting their cooling systems. They have a car which can perform well under damp as well as dry but cool racing conditions and that is what they are going to require for most of the upcoming races as well in the 2020 F1 Season. They will be continuing with their drivers and hence, even the drivers know their importance and respect.
Mercedes also have their own strategies as it is very likely that they will again be pushing and favoring Hamilton over Bottas for the season as Hamilton aims for a record. Mercedes are not very afraid of the Constructors’ Championship but the performance of their cars and the first race penalties have affected the fight between the two drivers!
DID SOMEONE SAY FERRARI WOULD PERFORM BADLY
Then in your face! Ferrari outdid the expectations of several people to utilise the Hungaroring’s specialities to their advantage and pose track times better than the Red Bull of Max Verstappen and Alexander Albon(who criticized his team on the team radio) .
They still are not upto the level but were able to better than in Austria because the track has elements that favour Ferrari. There are several low speed corners and the number of straights is almost none, except the pit stop straight and the one before Turn 1, which runs parallel to the pit stop lane.
Ferrari have issues with their power unit and that is the end. Formula 1 is about the driver, the aerodynamics, the brakes and everything else but without a proper and competitive engine, an F1 car can’t function properly.
