THIS IS T20 IN 2020 – RCB WIN, SRH FACE BAD LUCK!

It was a great match with a lot of stuff happening. Great pitch, greater players, unexpected happenings! Analysis and Report up next!

SRH

Sunrisers Hyderabad have a very good and a formidable bowling line up. They also have the opportunity to capitalise using their spinners in the the Indian Premier League. Their first match has also been considerably great but they weren’t able to get enough wickets. They had a good start and with a little change in the pitch due to the successive match, the bowlers were finding out the sweet spots and were bowling well. They lost more runs with the fast bowlers in comparison to the spinners.

Rashid Khan, who was much awaited, especially after a great CPL performance, was unable to take a wicket but was the second most economical and he was controlling his bowling speeds and keeping them well within a short range and bowling all around the pitch and keeping it up and down. Mitchell Marsh was very important for SRH but that was also some bad luck during the dive. He has faced problems before as well. He does need to recover fast, but SRH do have several options to replace him.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar kept his placements a little tighter and close and consistent, and varied his pace a little while utilizing the bounce that the pitch was providing at times to keep the economy greatly low.

They did face some serious issues with their fielding which also resulted into RCB having a wicket less run, which helped them a lot to setup the foundation.

SRH had some bad luck with their batting innings as David Warner got out in one of the most dismal and rare dismissals; Mitchell Marsh was severely injured in the first innings itself but he did come back at the end, somewhat like what happened with another player in MI vs CSK opening match of IPL 2019, but Mitch got golden duck out; Priyam Garg had one off the helmet and Rashid Khan and Abhishek had a severe crash.

They just had bad luck. Jonny Bairstow was again showcasing his great pull shots towards the leg – side today and he needs to stay consistent and he can make it all good for SRH once again.

The last over keeps them “rising”.

RCB

The Royal Challengers Bangalore had a great time batting on the pitch and their somewhat gamble by sending Devdutt Padikkal to open the batting for them worked out pretty well. Aaron Finch acted as the support system and provided the support to Padikkal. The partnership that built up was very important and then the reckless hitting that both of them started after the first strategic timeout was all a result of the strong and fruitful partnership.

Padikkal is a good player but he also had a great amount of luck on his side as he was dropped in some way or the other several times. What was noted was that he needs to be a slightly better runner in between the wickets and stay on the pitch which will provide him more grip rather than the soft and slippery kind of surface. His power hitting, which he executes is executed like a fine cricketer but he still requires that more power and a better understanding which he will definitely gain fast.

After the 10 over mark, RCB had gotten this right to hit but they had to step back a little after two successive wickets and Virat Kohli’s wicket fell. They were able to capitalise using Ab de Villiers’s 360 degree shots towards the end as bowlers such as Sharma failed to capitalise well enough on the opportunity.

In the bowling department, Yuzvendra Chahal brought in his rubs and took the wickets. He was finding the perfect points to bowl at and was turning the ball very well and that is what got him his 3 wickets. He was bowling in a very consistent manner, maintaining his line and turning the ball pretty well.

The 18th over by Navdeep Saini was very strategical and the lines and lengths he chose were the fine ones based on the situation. Rashid Khan had just had a severe crash and Bhuvi was completely new on the crease. Navdeep Saini bowled the right balls to each batsmen assessing what all had just happened. He unleashed his full pace in that one over.

Virat Kohli was working out his bowlers in a pretty smart way. He got Umesh Yadav bowled out very fast, and kept Chahal in a consistent frequency whereas he was also using his bowlers like Shivam Dube in periods when the momentum for SRH was low and was just completing their overs. A lot of the credit for the wonderful bowling showcase goes to Virat Kohli in the match.

It is a cringey cliche that “CATCHES WIN MATCHES” but however this time “CAPTAIN WON THE MATCH” even with “DROPPED CATCHES”. Fielding still needs a lot of work.

BONUS: Shaheen Afridi has done a 4 wickets in 4 balls in T20 match in England. That is a great feat to achieve, even in the T20 format but doing it in a domestic T20 in England with no that big players isn’t that awesome but he is turning out to be a great all – round bowler and has a great pace.
