Rajasthan Royals’s Royal winning streak of 2 wins in 2 matches in spectacular manner ended when they battled it out with Kolkata Knight Riders in the Dubai International Stadium. There were several factors and they included the poor performance of the batsmen, the larger ground in Dubai which is very large as compared to the one in Sharjah and KKR having concentrated and worked out their bowling line up.
The Rajasthan Royals, as said in earlier posts, were mainly just taking advantage of the short boundaries in Sharjah and the pitch over there. The Rajasthan Royals’s batsmen weren’t able to judge the pitch and analyse the boundaries well enough to score those boundaries that were required of them. Rajasthan Royals also lost a lot of the match supposedly in the toss itself.
RR had won the toss and they chose to bowl first. As noted by experts and commentators as well, the pitch in Dubai has been favouring teams who bat first and the pitch is actually slowing don and going more towards the boelwers after every innings. The pitch at Dubai is evolving fast and that is also having a lot of impact on the performance of the players.
The batting performance as such was also very weak as the bowlers overpowered the batsmen. Not only the KKR bowlers but even the RR bowlers were very impactful.
What did play in the hands of KKR was that they concentrated and did pick up the right bowling order and speed this time around and it is a good sign that they are understanding their team better now.
KKR were able to strike out the 2 main batsmen in the powerplay and in just the next ball, they got wicket of Jos Buttler on Mavi’s ball. This was the significant turning point. Rajasthan Royals have their main beef and their victory mainly in their first 3 batsmen as also said in the earlier posts. Kolkata Knight Riders were able to identify and experiment in the match and their(KKR’s) future matches are going to be very interesting for them.
Rahul Tewatia was on luck last time around and he failed by a lot in the match against KKR. It was all about the bowlers and the magnificent and brave performance by KKR.
