MAHENDRA SINGH DHONI – STRIVING FOR THE BEING

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, an icon in cricket and an inspiration for many. Mahi is 39 years old and has completely retired from international career and is currently playing for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.

M.S. Dhoni has contributed a lot to Indian cricket and is the most successful captain having won the inaugural T20 World Cup, 2011 Cricket World Cup and the ICC Champions Trophy. He als won several matches in bilateral series and has been the captain for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL having won 3 of the 10 seasons CSK has been a part of. In this blogpost, a look at future possibilities and the reasons during the coming year for MSD.

Dhoni is facing one major issue and that is that he has become old and doesn’t have enough energy and power left him in him to continue and play for long. His innings can still produce some runs scored at a high strike rate but that finisher, who would come and play a 6 over inning and still hit those 5 boundaries in the last over to seal and win the game is facing this issue of losing that energy.

Dhoni is facing big troubles in running between the wickets because he has played a lot of cricket and hence, his body has already become very tired and is not being able to take that much pressure. He gets fatigued very easily and that is what where the issue lies. M.S. Dhoni is not being able to run between those wickets and keep rotating the strike and that also pressurises him to hit more fours and sixes while on the crease and that can trigger him into playing a shot which is not timed and placed properly and is a mishit and that is where it all ends for him.

His wicket-keeping is still exclusive and his accuracy and movement behind the wickets is still present and that is one area where his worth is still very high.

THE FUTURE FOR HIM

It does seem as if even Dhoni has understood his future and is starting to ready himself for the pack up from being a cricket player. This should probably be his last IPL and that might be the end to his career as a cricket player and he seems to be the one who understands it and will take retirement after this IPL. He will definitely still be connected with cricket and with CSK. Probably as a mentor for the players and definitely as an inspiration. He may be like Sachin is for Mumbai Indians.

Dhoni has understood that. He should not be pressurising himself anyway. He has done a lot already. M.S. Dhoni is definitely not returning to international cricket and IPL also seems to be last for him in the look of IPL 13.
