KKR: SOME THINGS TO LEARN FROM KXIP!

KKR beat Kings XI Punjab by not only 2 runs but by around just 2 inches. KXIP were at their best during their match against KKR in the clash held in Abu Dhabi. KKR did emerge victorious but KXIP were way better in several areas. KKR just held it together as a unit and the game worked out for them. Analysing the areas where KXIP beat KKR in the match ad what can KKR do about it. And even what can other teams learn from it.

KXIP had way better fielding than KKR did. KKR had a little lousy fielding. KXIP were also playing more of an ATTACKING style in the powerplay than KKR and that is what helped KXIP a lot. Kolkata Knight Riders had two main problems – 1) their field setup wasn’t the best and it was a little free for the batsmen, 2) Their bowling was a little too defensive style at times and their bowling order this time around was a little messed up.

Kings XI Punjab utilised their top bowlers very well, Chris Jordan disappointed a little again for them and that did cost them a lot while chasing as DK was in a good knock and scored big off his overs. KXIP attacked all the batsman in the powerplay and that helped them get the wicket of Tripathi. Rahul Tripathi’s wicket was a result of that. They had slips up, they were bowling into the batsmen, attacking the stumps. That is what was required for KKR to be doing as well in the second innings as well. They did do that but not in an efficient a manner as their fielding was a little loose.

The fielding by KXIP wa way better than that of KKR. Andre Russell’s misfield where in a catch was dropped, and he then hurt himself as well could be said was due to the daylight falling into his eyes, and he not being in the place right at the time but the field setting, the players throwing the ball back to the crease and everything related was not on point.

If you would have seen KKR’s match against KXIP or their any other match in DREAM11 IPL 2020, the you would have noticed that hardly their fielders are able to throw the ball right towards the wicket, wicket keeper’s position or to even the right end. This is something that KXIP were very swift in doing. And this was key in the match as KXIP were able to get some wickets and save some runs because of that whereas KKR were just allowing the batsmen to run more easily between the wickets.

KKR have that one area which is a big concern and they should have really learned that from KXIP and improved their skills, that will make their journey in the IPL a lot smoother and easier.

What other teams have got to see is that 1) how to field and bowl in a match, especially in the powerplay; 2) when they play against KXIP, SRH already have a good running between the wickets for their overseas players, but others need to concentrate more on playing to those boundaries, and aiming for those sixes to get that win easier; 3) Their bowling needs to be like KXIP’s against KKR when playing against KXIP, except the Chris Jordan part.

|KXIP NOW DON’T HAVE THAT HIGH A CHANCE TO QUALIFY FOR THE PLAYOFFS BUT SOME GREAT GAMES AWAIT|
