DREAM11 IPL 2020: WHAT HELPED KKR’R BATTING AGAINST DC – ANALYSIS

KKR seemed to be a team who would have a very cheap batting innings again after they lost 3 wickets in the first 8 overs with Shubman Gill, Rahul Tripathi, and Dinesh Karthik all out cheaply with them contributing just 25 runs to KKR’s score. Nitish Rana had opened for KKR and had stuck on the crease as Sunil Narine came on the crease after a good break from matches. It was very important to KKR’s chances to win the game that this partnership was properly settled and scored some good runs at a strike rate above of 125.00 to help KKR atleast reach a defendable total.

Apart from some good shots, great timing, the right amount of aggression, no mistakes, a few misfields and some luck, there were also some other factors and events that led to this partnership scoring more than a 100 runs together at a very very huge strike rate while lasting for over 8 overs. Analysing the events and the factors!

Nitish Rana had opened and he had stayed on the crease while other got out. Sunil Narine came in after a good rest and some practice team. He came in at No. 6 and had to score runs. Sunil Narine was attacked in one straight away. Kagiso Rabada bowls above 140 generally, and a couple of short pitched balls from him would have probably gotten Narine out but the second over that Narine faced was against a spinner, bowling his first over of the day, on a pitch providing more support to seamers.

Sunil Narine did not score properly off his first four balls which he faced, which were above 130 kmph. The over he faced against Ashwin, he hit the second ball for a cracking six, and the next ball went for a lucky four.

After that Nitish Rana also decided to go after every ball he could and support his team and Narine. Both of them were in good touch and there mistakes by the bowlers as the right pace and lines weren’t being bowled to the two batsmen. Only 4 balls wee bowled to Narine which were above waist and straight to his body, and one of them got his wicket on the legside. How he normally gets out.

The spinners occupying the middle overs and their not being not being proper lines against Narine with a bonus of missing pace helped not only Narine but also Rana as both of them were in good touch and were scoring continuously. They were also looking to rotate the strike.
